Home / Mining data

Mining data that drives decisions.

Over twenty years in the mining industry, from telecommunications at a mining operation in Nunavik to enterprise data management at one of the world's largest gold producers. I know your systems, your site constraints and the reality of the people who need the numbers for the morning meeting.

What I do

Everything data, from choosing the platform to generative AI.

I don't sell any platform and I have no agreement with any vendor. My recommendation serves one interest: yours.

Platform selection

I help you define your needs, I join you in vendor demos and I ask the questions they'd rather avoid. You come away with an independent, well-argued recommendation.

Assessment and game plan

Where your data comes from, who uses it, where it gets stuck. Then a prioritized plan your team can realistically carry out.

Data models and architecture

Production, maintenance, mine plans, lab: models that connect your sources instead of stacking them.

Environmental data

Structuring environmental monitoring so the data is reliable, traceable and ready for your reports.

Operational dashboards

Yesterday's data, clean and up to date, for the people who have to decide that same morning.

Data ready for generative AI

An AI assistant is only as good as the context it's given. I structure and document your data (definitions, sources, units, history) so generative AI can query it and return reliable answers, faster. It's often what makes the difference between an AI project in mining that delivers something concrete and one that doesn't.

Mandates delivered remotely, over Teams, or on site depending on the project.

Projects I led or supported at a major mining company.

I mention them because they all show the same thing: technology works when the people on site actually use it.

Turning around a mine in start-up

At a northern mine in the middle of a difficult start-up, I was the dedicated IT person on the action plan. The challenge: giving supervisors the last 24 hours of data for the morning meeting, instead of two-day-old data.

Global data warehouse

As enterprise data manager, I deployed the global data warehouse with my team, which led to the first global daily operations dashboard.

Maintenance planning

Linking mine plans to maintenance plans to better schedule shutdowns. Recurring savings of $10 to 12 million a year.

Rock detection on a rail conveyor

Machine learning on some sixty cameras to alert the operator and stop the train.

Flotation circuit optimization

Analyzing flotation circuit data at a polymetallic mine to improve its performance.

Data and AI literacy program

Workshops at every site, in groups of 25 to 30, that reached more than 10,000 employees. Focused on adoption and behaviour change.

Data scattered everywhere? We start with an assessment.

A discovery phase to understand your vision, your sources and your challenges, then a clear game plan.
